What it is.
Deep tissue massage uses firm, sustained pressure to reach the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. The therapist works slowly, finds the tension, and stays there until it releases. The pressure is significant — more than most spas in Dubai actually deliver when they say "deep".
Who it suits.
For the lower back after long flights. For shoulders that hold their meetings even after they end. For the runner whose hamstrings have stopped negotiating. For anyone who has tried "deep tissue" elsewhere and felt the therapist pull back too early.
What to expect.
8 min
Arrival
Setup, three questions, plus a longer conversation about where the pain is, how long it has been there, and what you have tried.
10 min
Opening
Long broad strokes with warm oil. The body has to be asked first; we do not go deep cold.
35 min
The work
Forearms, knuckles, sometimes elbows. The therapist follows what she finds. If a place needs ten minutes, it gets ten minutes. We do not work to a script.
7 min
The close
A return to long strokes. The body is given time before being asked to move.
What we bring.
Standard kit. Cooler oils that do not slide too much.
What you'll need.
A quiet room, dim if possible. Floor space about 2m × 3m. 60–90 minutes uninterrupted.
Add-ons.
- Hot stones (+50 AED, particularly good with deep tissue)
- Aromatherapy oil upgrade (+30 AED)
- Extra 15 minutes (+40 AED)
Who carries it.
All Lumea therapists are trained in deep tissue.
Honest answers.
How firm is firm?
Firmer than you have probably had elsewhere. We ask, we listen, we adjust — but the default is real pressure.
Will I be sore afterwards?
Sometimes, mildly, for 24 hours. It is the work settling. Drink water, take a warm (not hot) shower, sleep early.
Can I book this during pregnancy?
No. We do not currently offer prenatal massage at Lumea. We would recommend waiting until after your six-week postpartum check-up.
What if I want it harder mid-session?
Just say so. Therapists are trained to adjust without making it awkward.
